Chennai likely to receive some respite from heavy rainfall after 24 hours. On Tuesday, several trains scheduled to depart from Chennai were cancelled. More than 14,000 people have been rescued in Tamil Nadu so far. Incessant rains have raised a hue and cry in the state.

Northeast Monsoon is still active over South India. But, intensity of rainfall will now decrease. The well-marked low in the Bay of Bengal will weaken into a low pressure area by Wednesday, lying over South Andhra Coast and adjoining areas. Moderate showers will continue at many places over Andhra coast and Rayalaseema. Tamil Nadu will also receive light to moderate showers. Cloudy skies over Odisha could bring some light rainfall.

We can see a cyclonic circulation over Southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala coast. It may intensify into a low pressure area and move in a westward direction. The trough from the system is moving across Tamil Nadu. Under its influence, Kerala and Lakshadweep area will receive some good showers.

The high pressure belt continues to move across Central India. Accordingly, we could witness clear blue skies and pleasant weather conditions over this region.

The Western Disturbance as an upper air system will not have any impact on the Indian region. Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh may receive some rainfall at one or two places.

Cool and dry northwesterly winds blowing over North and Central India will lead to further drop in minimum temperatures by a couple of notches. Further drop in maximums are also likely across the Northwest plains including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh.

Northeastern states, northern parts of West Bengal and Bihar could witness foggy weather conditions.
