How you snooze says a lot about your health. Find out what your sleeping posture means

As soon as you make your self comfortable to sleep, you may roll over to your right and pull your knees into your chest, or perhaps you lie flat on your back. When you snooze with your knees pulled up high and chin tucked into your chest, you may feel it in the morning, especially if you have an arthritic back or joints. Aside of the physical symptom, experts say it can actually tell you a lot about your personality and your health.

A study on the subject found a connection between certain sleeping positions and psychological characteristics.

IF YOU SLEEP ON YOUR SIDE WHAT YOUR SLEEP SAYS ABOUT YOU:

The foetal position is a one of the most popular among sleepers. This position is defined by a person who sleeps on their side with their legs curled up.

Seems like an uncomfortable position to some, but it happens to be a fairly comfortable sleep style for a majority of people. If you sleep with both arms stretched out in front of you, you've likely got an open nature.

HEALTH WOES: Research shows that acid reflux can worsen when you sleep on your side, particularly if you tend to roll onto your right side. Acid reflux could also be a symptom of out-of-whack gut bacteria. To combat these issues, sleep next to a body pillow. You might also try sleeping with a thin pillow between your knees to give your back extra support.

IF YOU SLEEP ON OUR BACK WHAT YOUR SLEEP SAYS ABOUT YOU:

Sleeping on your back like a log body straight, arms beside you-can indicate that you're inflexible and rigid with a tendency to be stubborn, and set in your ways. They are also people who tend to take themselves seriously and are very structured. They have high expectations for themselves and others around them. But if your arms are above your head, there is a chance that your friends occupy a huge priority in your lives. They also lend a patient eat to problems of others, and go out their way to help when they can.

HEALTH WOES: While back sleeping is great for those with back or neck pain, it can make you more prone to snoring and sleep apnea. Sleeping on your back can also make acid reflux worse, keeping you awake throughout the night. Try propping yourself up with an extra pillow under your head.

IF YOU SLEEP ON YOUR STOMACH WHAT YOUR SLEEP SAYS ABOUT YOU:

If you like to drift off face-down with your arms outstretched it could mean that you often feel like you don't have much control over what happens in your life or that you're just hanging on for the ride. If this is the case, you may wake up feeling anxious or worried.

HEALTH WOES: Due to the fact that most beds aren't built like massage tables with holes for us to breathe so that we can keep our neck in line with our spine, it means you most likely sleep with your neck turned to one side or another. This causes a great deal of neck strain that can lead to muscle spasms and chronic pain issues. So what could you do?

Train yourself to sleep on your side or back as the neck extension that's required to breathe easily is just too extreme on the body.
